GREAT OUTDOORS
Arizona’s sunsets….just where and when can you find the best sunset in Arizona? Remember that a “sunset” is defined in astronomy as the moment the trailing edge of our poweful Sun’s disk disappears in the west.
The problem is …our sunsets hide behind moutain ranges, giant saguaros and somthimes, play in the changing clouds that grace our skies. So, if you are looking for that perfect sunset, study the sky. The desert can and will play tricks on you. Just when you think that all is clear and you are about to witness just another sunset without red and orange glows… passing clouds or dust can become magic in the sky above.
One popular, but hidden place to see a grande sunset, is in Sedona, up on the hill where the airport is located. On occasion, you might also be audience for an old Indian playing his flute to the falling sun. They’ve even converted this landing into a larger landing with monuments, railing and pay-for binoculars.
When is the best time? Only mother nature can tell you, but she will give you hints.
Enjoy Arizona’s Best sunsets!
