Just a short drive north of Phoenix, you’ll find spectacular desert sights in the Town of Carefree.
You’ll enjoy vast stretches of wide-open Sonoran Desert, amazing mountain vistas, giant boulder formations and towering saguaro cacti.

In the 1950’s, Partners K. T. Palmer and Tom Darlington acquired the land now known as Carefree.

The 1960’s saw the first shops and restaurants constructed, bringing business within the Town Center.  Sky Ranch Airport and the Desert Forest Golf Club opened.

Today, Carefree’s population is approaching 4,000.  Carefree celebrates 50 years of history and 25 years of incorporation.

You’ll enjoy what this extraordinary desert paradise has to offer from shopping to dining to the arts. Visit unique shops and galleries, enjoy a great meal, try a sarsaparilla at a Western saloon, or just relax and watch a fabulous sun set. Later at night, you’ll be treated to a great star show with the stars shining so bright, they seem close enough to touch. You may even hear a coyote singing to the moon.
