Camp Verde is a town in Yavapai County It is 42.6 sq miles, intersected by I-17, extending 8 miles to the West and 10 miles to the East of the interstate. Three freeway exits provide local access: Exits 285, 287, and 289. The Town’s Historic Downtown is approximately 1-mile (1.6 km) from I-17.

It has a grocery store, physician facilities, shopping, dining, historical museum, Fort Verde State Historic Park, chamber of commerce/visitor center and town offices.

Five Day Schedule: This park is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The park will be open from 9 am to 5 pm on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, & Mondays.

Tourist attractions include Montezuma Castle National Monument, Fort Verde State Historic Park, and Out of Africa Wildlife Park.

The Cliff Castle Casino, operated by the Yavapai-Apache Nation Indian tribe, is an important gambling destination for north and central Arizona.

The town hosts an annual corn festival in July, sponsored and organized by Hauser and Hauser Farms. Other annual festivals include Fort Verde Days (October); the Pecan, Wine and Antiques Festival (February); and the Crawdad Festival (June). For the past several years, the town has also been the site of the annual Highland Games, the largest exhibition of Scottish culture in Northern Arizona
It is in the Verde River valley. To the south lie the Bradshaw Mountains. Camp Verde is surrounded by Prescott National Forest.
The Mogollon Rim is just north of the town and forms the southwestern edge of the large, geologically ancient Colorado Plateau.

Camp Verde is rich in history with the Sinagua — an Ancestral Puebloan people, the Native Americans, the U.S. Calvary, and the settlers all coming together. The stories illustrate the many challenges faced by everyone, the conflicts and the suffering, the trail of tears of the Yavapai & Tonto-Apache, and the growth of Camp Verde through it all.
At 3147 feet elevation and surrounded by mountains. The mountains offer shelter and the summer rains make the valley green and lush. restaurants, too.

Camp Verde is Centrally Located only 90 miles north from the center of Phoenix and 42 miles south from Flagstaff.

Camp Verde is 20 miles to Sedona, 26 miles to Jerome, 16 miles to Cottonwood, 5 miles to Lake Montezuma, and 40 miles to Prescott.

The Verde Valley Archaeology Center is an archaeological educational and research facility located in Camp Verde, Arizona. They have a small exhibit and display area. Knowledgeable volunteers can provide information on the prehistoric cultures of the area as well as the Native American history of the Verde Valley.

    St Joseph’s Youth Camp
     
    Since 1948, we have offered rewarding summer camp experiences to Arizona’s youth. St. Joseph’s Youth Camp offers week long camp sessions for kids 8 – 13 years old and for teens 13-17. The summer sessions start in mid-June and run through the end of July. The camp is also available to rent from May through October when youth camp is not in session.

    St. Joseph’s Youth Camp is located about 25 miles southeast of Flagstaff, at 4860 Mormon Lake Road, Mormon Lake, AZ 86038. The Camp’s year round mailing address is PO Box 23658, Tempe, AZ 85285.
